On the Art and Design A Level you can express your own creative flair within your specialisation, be it drawing, painting, sculpture or printmaking.

Both the AS and A2 Levels take one year each.

What will I study?

This programme will cover a wide variety of media, allowing you the opportunity to flex your creative muscle while learning new techniques and approaches within art and design.

Trips to the Tate and Tate Modern galleries in London are planned, along with visits to the cinema and other industry relevant places.

What else can I do?

The A Level in Art and Design combines well with English Literature, Film Studies, Media Studies and Photography.

What does the course lead to?

Careers as an animator, illustrator, product designer or fashion designer are all possible pathways for art and design students.

Work in the media, film and television, marketing and the textile industry are further options.

What can I go on to study?

You can pursue art and design at university with a Degree in Fine Art, Visual Culture, Art History or Illustration.

You could also stay at West Notts and study for a HND in Interactive Media or the Foundation Studies in Art and Design 18+.

Entry requirements

You must possess five GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include English language or English literature or combined English. You must also have a grade B or above in art and design, fine art, 3D design, photography or graphic design.

You will also need to have a portfolio of creative work to show to the course tutor at interview.

How do I apply?

To apply, simply complete the A Levels online application form.

You don’t need to apply for each subject area you are interested in. Once we have received your application form we will invite you into college for an interview or audition where we will be able to discuss every aspect of the course you have chosen, as well as any alternatives you may be considering. You will also have the opportunity to visit the areas of the college used for your programme choice.
