On the Level 3 course, you will learn how to prepare the final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, how to maintain cost accounting records and how to prepare reports and returns.
How long is the course?
This is a part-time course with two options:Over one year: Either a full day or two evenings per week
Over two years: A morning, afternoon or evening session per week.
How will I be assessed?
There are two external examinations and an internal assessment of a simulated work product.What will I study?
You will study the following modules:
Unit 5 – Maintaining financial records and preparing accounts
Unit 6 – Recording and evaluating costs and revenues
Unit 7 – Preparing reports and returns
- Preparing financial statements for sole traders
- Preparing financial statements for partnerships
- Principals of managing cash balances
- Cost accounting
- Understanding current VAT regulations
- Spreadsheets software
What does the course lead to?
Employment as a trainee financial or management accountant, accounts clerk or finance clerk would be possible career paths.What can I go on to study?
You can progress onto the Technician (NVQ Level 4) AAT qualification also available at the college.Entry requirements
You will need to possess an NVQ Level 2 in Accounting. In exceptional cases you may be able to start at this level but will have to complete units 21 and 22 from the AAT Level 2.How much does it cost?
