The 2013/4 programme begins with Management - Managing Self and Others (HLLG6050) which starts, 30 September in Lancaster and then online.
You will need to attend one of the induction days prior to commencing your first module; these are running in Lancaster on 18 or 19 September 2013 (you only need to attend one date), 08 January 2014 and 26 March 2014 and in Carlisle on 20 September 2013, 07 January 2014 and 25 March 2014. If you have studied at the University of Cumbria in the past two years the requirement to attend the induction day may be waived.

Credit and UCAS requirements Credit: 120 credits Selection criteriaApplications will be reviewed on an individual basis and potential students will be offered advice by an academic tutor on the suitability of the award and their module choice within the award, dependent on factors such as recency of prior learning, and their personal and professional development needs.
Students should be able to show potential benefit from studying for the award and a commitment to attempting the assessment items. Students who do not have evidence of recent successful study at level 5 or level 6 may be advised to complete a personal professional development module prior to commencing the programme.

Students exiting with at this point with 60 credits would receive a UAD Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care.

The overall aims of the programme are to:
- Provide a distinctive degree programme that welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds and recognises and values prior experience and learning.
- Provide the opportunity to explore and apply a range of management and leadership knowledge and skills in order to enhance the service provided to your users
- Facilitate the development of learners as change agents and leaders of change in order to enable service development in response to a changing and dynamic health and social care environment
- Provide learners with opportunity to develop intellectual, analytical and problems solving skills which encourage the development of mature and independent decision making and judgement
- Develop conceptual knowledge and practical understanding of how techniques of enquiry enable the critical analysis, interpretation and application of evidence within their sphere of influence;
- Develop graduate key skills within the lifelong learning context
- Provide the opportunity to explore and apply effective collaborative and partnership working
