Career opportunities in the performance, festivals and event
management sector are many and varied, even in a challenging
economic environment.
In addition to jobs in the arts sector there are many opportunities
in the large leisure, hospitality and tourism sector and the world
of corporate events, product launches and conferences.
The BA (Hons) Event Management top-up year is delivered at the
Brampton Road campus in a range of seminar and lecture theatre
locations, with modules led by academic staff and professional
industry experts.
Additional input and support to students is provided from library,
academic skills, and employability advisers based at Fusehill
Street, the other main Carlisle campus site.
Students have access to the independent study facilities at the
Learning Gateway, Fusehill Street campus. At the Brampton Road
campus, students can get involved in the over 250 events a year
that take place in 180 seat Stanwix Arts Theatre and 80 seat Studio
Theatre.

Students on event management courses at the University of Cumbria
are gaining invaluable work experience from a successful
partnership with local company Worldwide Events Limited and
Whitehaven Festival.

Applicants from courses based at institutions other than University of Cumbria will be assessed on their suitability depending upon the modules they have studied.
Credit and UCAS requirements Credit: 240 credits UCAS code: N820 Selection criteriaThe BA (Hons) Event Management Top-up allows you to come from
previous study in a related subject at foundation degree or HND
level (e.g. creative arts, business, hospitality, tourism) and
graduate with a full BA Honours in the field of event
management.
Entrants are required to demonstrate their ability to benefit from,
and have the prospect of successfully completing, the
programme.
This is usually through a written application form and subsequent
interview at which you are required to discuss a portfolio of
evidence of achievements to date.
Applicants may be required to demonstrate basic competencies and
skills via prior experiential learning and / or a diagnostic
assessment, as appropriate.
Applicants with significant prior work experience who may have been
out of education for some time will always receive serious
consideration. Such students are offered appropriate support on the
course to ensure they are able to undertake its academic
demands.
