Why study with us?The University of Cumbria has provided high quality training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for many years to students wishing to gain a qualification in CBT. The Personality Disorders module is available at level 6 and level 7 and is a recent addition to our CBT course portfolio.
The aim of this module is to apply a CBT model to assess, conceptualise and in some cases treat disorders and symptoms based within the Personality Disorder spectrum. The emphasis is on conceptualisation and development of practice, to develop specialist skills and knowledge focusing on this area of interest/clinical practice/service.

Selection criteriaAll applications will be considered by the Course Team. To be eligible to study this module you should ideally be working within a relevant clinical context.
To undertake the module at level 6 you must be able to evidence successful completion of a level 6 CBT module.
To undertake the module at level 7 you must be able to evidence successful completion of a level 7 CBT module.

Course summary The learning outcomes will vary according to the level of study but indicative module content includes:the spectrum of Personality Disorders and their cluster groups, NICE Guidelines, diagnostic criteria, risk assessment and management, common co-morbidity, dual diagnosis, formulation and skills application to the newly diagnosed and complex/chronic cases, schema therapy, stepped care treatment, standardised pharmacology.
