The programme offers a combination of core modules providing skills generic to engineering and research, and specialist modules providing in-depth and advanced knowledge, together with industry or research related projects in a wide range of areas. These include space structure dynamics, eye biomechanics, cable-stayed bridges, water tower dynamics, pre-stressed concrete design, and analysis of fabric structures.

Part-time students also have the option of relating their research project directly to ongoing work within their employment.

By studying for this course, you will also develop your transferable skills in research methods, communication and management of large and small scale projects.

This degree is accredited as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng(Hons) or an Accredited IEng (Full) BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree.
