Health Care of the Older Person - Advanced Professional Development [Level HE6] part time (subject to validation)

This course takes a holistic approach to examining the various health needs of older people. It explores the demographic changes and the impact of recent Government policies on the delivery of health care in practice settings. The physical and mental health needs of older people are examined and the intervention strategies, developed to meet those needs, are subjected to critical analysis.

This course develops skills which are in great demand by a range of employers. It contributes to the professional development of health care professionals such as registered nurses in the NHS, in the private sector (such as private hospitals, general practices or nursing homes), or therapists including physiotherapists and occupational therapists, who have an interest in the health and social care of older people. It is also of interest to people working within the voluntary sector with an interest in the holistic care of older people.
