Curriculum studies represents a multi-disciplinary approach to the analysis and investigation of all aspects of policy, theory and practice which influence developments in the Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) sector of provision. This course makes use of methods and conceptual frameworks drawn from disciplines such as philosophy, history, psychology, sociology and economics, and seeks to provide a fundamental theoretical basis and rationale for the study of education. You will examine and critically evaluate models of curriculum design and development and interrogate policy trends and issues which impact on current practice in the sector.

makes use of methods and conceptual frameworks drawn from
disciplines such as philosophy, history, psychology, sociology and

rationale for the study of education. You will examine and
critically evaluate models of curriculum design and development and
interrogate policy trends and issues which impact on current
practice in the sector.
You will be encouraged to make connections between the policies and
issues examined and developments within their specific curriculum
fields and areas of professional interest. In the process of
analysing and evaluating the links between theory and practice,
curriculum design and learning policy, you will develop and
investigate a particular topic or field of interest as a basis for
the module assignment.
On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a
certificate of credit for 20 credits at Level HE7. In addition, you
may use these credits towards one of the Masters in Education
degrees offered by the University of Bolton.
