Computing - BSc (Hons) part-time

We offer a broad education in computing with an emphasis on structured design techniques and the development of practical systems and real world applications. You will develop skills in analysing requirements and designing software systems to suit.

The course covers information systems, visual programming, systems analysis, database design, data structures, relational databases, networks and programming for the internet. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to study operating systems, software design, systems architecture, object-orientated methods, human computer interaction, networks and communications, client server solutions, electronic commerce and internet security. Teamwork, communication and project management skills are developed throughout the course.

A substantial project, undertaken individually in the final year of the course, allows you to specialise in an application of particular interest. The report produced at the end will demonstrate your competence in this area and should prove very helpful in job interviews. Graduates from this course will be immediately useful to employers for their ability to design and construct software systems.
