You are also expected to work towards the functional skills
qualifications in English and maths. These are embedded into the
assignments. There is an exam for each of the functional skills but
the result does not affect the grade of the extended diploma.
Continuous assessment throughout the course based on both
individual and group assignments and practical work.
All units are assignment-based, which requires both practical work
and research carried out individually and in groups. There are
syllabus-related visits throughout the course including a trip to
Animation Station.
Successful completion of this course means you gain the equivalent of three A-levels. The diploma is graded between PPP and DDD and UCAS points are derived from these grades. In addition you gain functional skills at Level 2 in IT and mathematics.
Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have at least 4
GCSEs at grade C or above (including some subjects related to the
proposed area of study) and/or a completed Level 2 award, and the
willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification in
English and/or maths.
If you are interested in a Level 3 programme and have alternative
qualifications you would like us to consider, please contact us
with your details. Applicants will be invited to attend an
interview and complete an assessment. All students will have their
literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
Following this Extended Diploma in IT you can progress to a course in higher education at university, or a job as an IT practitioner or technician.
