This foundation learning tier course provides the progression pathway for young people who have yet to achieve the required grades to study fully and as independent learners in their chosen vocational area. In addition the Life skills developed will help to enable young people to enter adult life as confident and capable individuals.

These nationally accredited qualifications help to motivate and
reward learners by formally recognising their achievements.
Entry Requirements:
Interview required
A willingness to succeed and improve grades. Students entering this programme will need to have achieved at entry level 2.
Assessment:
The course is assessed through a range of methods that include project work, assignments and the compilation of a portfolio. All work is internally verified and subject to external verification by the relevant awarding bodies.
Progression from this course:
On successful completion and reaching the required grades, students are then able to apply for interview onto the range of stepping out programmes to further their studies within their chosen vocational pathway. Stepping out pathways are available in childcare, health and social care, retail, uniformed services and horticulture.

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
