Description

This course is designed for students entering and progressing as a bricklayer. Students are required to attend college for three days per week.

A range of training projects based on bricklaying skills. Some of these modules include:
- Safe working practice in construction
- Information, quantities and communication
- Building methods and construction technology
- Bricklaying skills
- Blocklaying skills
- Cavity wall skills
- Basic setting out masonry structures
- General knowledge of the building industry

Functional Skills

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

3 GCSE's grade E or above or entry qualifications at entry level 3. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this course. Individual cases outside of this criteria will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

Progress and achievement is recorded throughout the year via:
- Practical assessments
- Theory assessments
- External tests

Progression from this course:

On successful completion of the Diploma in Construction - Brickwork Level 1 the Diploma in Construction - Brickwork Level 2 can be studied.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information. Students will require:

Suitable footwearm i.e. steel toe-capped boots and overalls.

Textbook, drawing and writing equipment.

Calculator.

Pen drive.
