End Qualification:

BTEC Extended Diploma in Graphic Design (equivalent to 3 A levels)

You will work towards the subsidiary diploma qualification in the first year of the course and will achieve the extended diploma in the second year.

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

5 GCSE's grade C or above, with a minimum grade C or above in either English or Maths and a creative subject. Vocational qualifications in relevant subjects will be accepted as GCSE equivalent. Alternatively, successful completion of a BTEC level 2 diploma at merit grade is also acceptable. You will be required to successfully pass an interview with a demonstration of enthusiasm and commitment towards the subject area and bring examples of craft and art work. Individual cases will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

The work on the course is project/assignment based, and assessment is continuous throughout the course. Some units will be subject to external assessment. Each unit will be assessed and awarded with a final grade of pass, merit or distinction. The course is completed with a final major project and an exhibition.

Progression from this course:

An extended diploma is equivalent to three A levels. Students can expect to leave the course with a strong portfolio of work that will give the opportunity to progress to higher education or directly into employment. You may wish to consider the BA Fine Art course delivered at the King's Lynn campus in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information. There is an annual resource fee of approx £50, and students will be required to purchase a recommended starter art kit costing approximately £100. Visits are arranged to various exhibitions, as part of the course, which individually cost, a maximum of £15. An optional residential study trip is also planned. Students will also be asked to purchase additional necessary items such as specialist papers and art materials as required.
