If you are aged between 19 and 23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A Levels, tuition fees will be waived. If you meet the Eligible Benefit criteria AND are aged 19-23, tuition fees will be waived. Tuition fees will not be waived for students aged over 23 studying a Level 3 or higher course, however these students may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.

Course Content: Course Content
Students are required to complete a combination of core mandatory
units and optional units in year one in addition you will complete
800 hours vocational experience across four age ranges 0-1, 1-3,
3-5, and 5-8
Students gain information across a range of topics, which are
taught through a variety of units. Some of these are:
Communication, Professional practice, Child development, Babies
development and Care, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality
and Diversity. These units will also provide you with the
opportunity to develop skills such as personal skills,
investigation skills and research on how children learn, develop
and behave, while also dealing with aspects of the emotional,
physical and educational development of children. This course aims
to provide you with a wide range of skills and experience in
preparation for your career in working with children.
Students are taught in units either over a whole year or within
semesters. Students will learn by tutor led input, individual self
study, group work, learning work-shops and placement. Coursework
assessment is in the form of written assignments, projects and
presentations.
Student’s progress within college and placement is assessed by
tutors and the placement officer. You will meet regularly with your
personal tutor for reviews and parents evenings. Attendance will be
monitored to ensure you gain the most from your course.
Entry Qualification: 5 A – C grades at GCSE Level
It is necessary for students to have English Language and Maths
GCSE at grade C. Science GCSE at grades A* - C will be needed if
you wish to progress on to teacher training.
