What does the course include?

The Access to HE (Sport Science) Diploma is a one-year intensive course designed to give mature students (19+) the knowledge required to progress onto any Sports related degree in Higher Education.
It consists of a core of Sport Science subjects including:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Diet & Nutrition
- Sport Psychology
- Teaching & Coaching
There will also be additional units available to enhance your study skills, as well as Mathematics and English GCS…

What do I need to get on this course?
You will be selected on the basis of their qualifications, relevant industrial qualifications and performance at interview.
You should be:
- 19 years or above
- Have a reference from employer or school
- Have GCSE grade C in English and Mathematics
OR
- Demonstrate an ability for written English at level 2 and be able to handle mathematical problems at level 2
Further consideration will be given to relevant industrial qualifications and anyone with a keen interest in sport or coaching sport.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout the year in all units that you study. This will be completed using a variety of methods including: written essays; exams; phase tests; oral presentations; practical coaching sessions; and in-class assessment tasks.
Where does it lead?
On successful completion of the course you will progress to Higher Education. Previous students have gone on to study a variety of degree subjects including: Physical Education; Sports Science; Sports Management; Nutrition; Sport Psychology; and Physiotherapy.
