Course Content: The Professional Municipal Driver Module has been designed to be interactive, varied and interesting. Through a mixture of classroom and in-cab training Tameside College/Mercedes Benz will aim to provide an enjoyable learning experience that brings every driver to a level far beyond the minimum demanded by the new legislation.

The module is aimed specifically at all types of municipal drivers, not only drivers working for the local authority; but also drivers working for waste disposal, land reclamation and re-cycling companies.

Health and Safety, Vehicle Inspection, Reverse Manoeuvres and risks associated with the Municipal sector are all identified within this module.

Also Customer Care and Corporate Image specific to the various sectors mentioned are addressed.

Case studies and driving observation techniques are used to gain interaction from the delegates, along with video technology and slide animation. Waste legislation, hazardous or toxic waste and use of correct PPE are all discussed, again with interaction from the delegates. Methods of handling waste and also Waste Collection equipment including various types of vehicles and waste bins used for handling waste are discussed in great detail. There is also the facility to customise the module to suit the organisation.
