If you are aged between 19 and 23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A Levels, tuition fees will be waived. If you meet the Eligible Benefit criteria AND are aged 19-23, tuition fees will be waived. Tuition fees will not be waived for students aged over 23 studying a Level 3 or higher course, however these students may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.

Course Content: This programme has an excellent reputation for

awareness of the public services in general and the roles they play
in society. You will develop an awareness of the wider political
and social issues that impact upon the public services both in a
national and international situation. You will prepare physically
and mentally for the stresses of working in this sector; physical
fitness, communication and problem solving skills are important to
this area.
This advanced level programme has been specifically designed as
preparation for those interested in pursuing a career within a
Public or Emergency Service:
• Police
• Fire
• Ambulance Service
• The Armed Forces
• Prison Service
• HM Revenue and Customs
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services programme is
divided into eighteen units of study delivered over a period of two
academic years. Entry Qualification: A minimum of five GCSE grades
A*-C. High levels of motivation and a good standard of physical
fitness. If progressing from a BTEC Level 2 Diploma an overall
Merit grade is a minimum requirement. Special Features: All
applicants must attend an interview followed by a pre-course
assessment day. You will be required to purchase a uniform and pay
for trips during the course. Course Format: The course is taught on
a workshop/classroom basis and outdoor activities. Emphasis will be
put on a practical approach to the course wherever possible. As
well as classroom based work, the course includes visits, guest
speakers, team building, practical sessions, an expedition and
outdoor activity residential.
Your work will be assessed continuously through a range of theory
and practical based assessment activities methods employed within
the academic units include: individual research, group work,
projects work, oral presentations. Successful assessments will be
graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. Progression: The structured
preparation for entry into a Public/Emergency service is one of the
main themes of the programme. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in
Public Services is recognised as a great entry-level qualification
to a wide range of potential employers.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Public Service students apply to
universities and are offered places.
