Course Content: The course usually takes one year to complete but if you need longer then this is also possible and may be negotiated with your tutor as you progress through the course. You will be required to attend full-time with attendance at a number of evening performances as an essential part of the course. Entry Qualification: Ideally you will have 2 GCSEs at grade C or above, however, practical skills demonstrated at audition and a real enthusiasm for Performing Arts will be taken into account.

Experience in school or amateur productions will also help to convince the Performing Arts Team that you are really serious about making a success of the course. Special Features: This is a vocational course that develops knowledge, understanding and skills in dance and drama through practical work and some academic study. Course Format: Students work on 'core projects’ learning to rehearse towards performances. Success on the course depends on completion of both practical and written assignments and there is a strong emphasis on the development of performance-related skills.

Assessment is through practical and written assignments and observations throughout the year. Progression: Progression from BTEC First Diploma can be onto the first year of a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance, Acting or Music Practice) and from here to HND/Degree level study or work in the Performing Arts and Entertainment industries.
