Who is this course for?

For either course, you need to be working within a construction environment. The wall and floor tiling pathways are suitable for those employed as a Wall and floor tiler in either domestic or commercial premises.

What will I do on the course?

In both levels of Apprenticeship, you will study a mix of theory (knowledge) and practical (competency) modules, examples are provided below. You will select competency based units that are most closely connected to your work; you may also choose to complete your CSCS onsite card. Level 2:

Alongside this work, you will also complete modules on Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Functional Skills English and Mathematics.

What qualifications do I need?

Level 2 - there are no formal What qualifications do I need?; however you should have a strong interest in working in the construction sector.

When does the course start?

September 2013, however flexible start times may also be available.

Where is it held?

As with all Apprenticeship programmes, you will be employed in a construction environment and be visited regularly in the workplace by your trainer/assessor for practical assessments. In addition, you will also attend college on a day release basis – these sessions will usually take place at Cannock campus. Some learning and activities may be completed through our dedicated online portals.

How long does the course last?

For both levels, the usual duration for each course is 24 months.

What does it cost?

The course is fully funded for those individuals who meet the Apprenticeship funding requirements. For those who do not meet these requirements, individual prices can be provided on request. Please note: you may be required to purchase small items of equipment during the course.

What could I do after completing the course?

Further Education:
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Employment:
  • Working for local independent companies
  • Working for large/national companies
  • Self employment.
