This course is for experienced florists who wish to develop their technical and designs skills along with gaining in-depth knowledge of business practises, marketing and botanical concepts. The course will help learners develop their own unique design style ideal for developing their own business, demonstrating and competing. Level 4 is a suitable progression route for someone who has completed a level 3 qualification or who has significant experience within the industry. Learners should ideally be currently employed in the floristry industry.

  • Marketing and Promotion Practices for Floristry
  • Technical Floristry Skills using a wide range of mediums and constructions techniques and tend designs
You will produce an extensive portfolio of work that can be used to further your career and business opportunities. There will be independent study, distance learning via the use of STEPS and intensive workshops held at our International School of Floristry at the Rodbaston campus. The focus is on one unit at a time.

What qualifications do I need?

The philosophy behind the Level 4 qualification is to broaden access to higher eduaction. Consequently, the aim is to offer places to anyone capable of demonstrating the ability and commitment necessary to undertake the course. This will be assessed on an individual basis, but the normal entry requirements are as follows:
  • Level 3 Floristry qualification, OR
  • Significant experience in the floristry industry with level 3 skills
  • 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C including English and Maths, OR
  • Level 2 equivalent qualification, OR
  • Adequate standard of English and Maths
Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcomed. You shuld have a strong interest in working in floristry and demonstrate a commitment to succeed.

One academic year - part time

Mode of attendance:

In two day 'blocks' to be held once every month (Sunday and Monday). 'Distance Learning' via our STEPS interactive learning zone. Learners should also be aware that there may be a need for them to attend additional events, competitions and trips to support their learning. Details of these will be made available during the course induction.

What could I do after completing the course?

There are many academic and professional avenues to explore on completion of the Level 4 programme. These include progression to City and Guilds Diploma in Floristry - Level 5. Employment opportunities include:

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be through a variety of methods but mainly assignment and practical work where you will be asked to research a subject and produce appropriate evidence, this may be in the form of written work, a presentation, practical tasks, reflective diary or video.
