Who is this course for?

This course will build on the skills you have gained at Level 2 to equip you for a career in construction or provide you with a good foundation to progress to a higher level qualification. This course will interest you if you are looking for the opportunity to improve your practical skills in 'real work' situations and continue to develop your knowledge of the latest techniques and safe practices.

What will I do on the course?

You will undertake assignments and projects to demonstrate your skills tackling realistic workplace situations and will study a similar range of subjects as at Level 2 but at a more advanced level as well as;

  • Erecting complex structural carcassing
  • Second fixing
  • First fixing
In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, and English and Maths. We also offer English and Maths GCSE resits.

What qualifications do I need?

  • Level 2 qualification in Wood Occupations
  • Adequate standard of English and Maths
  • Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcomed
  • You should have a strong interest in working with wood and demonstrate a commitment to succeed

Tamworth (Gerard Centre) and Cannock (Progress Centre)

How long does the course last?

One year - full-time
