Who is this course for?

If you have a passion for business and want to learn higher level skills such as employment law, accounting, project management and business enterprise, this is the course for you. Who knows, you could be the next contestant on the The Apprentice or Dragons' Den!

What will I do on the course?

The BTEC Extended Diploma in Business is a practical, work-related course, on which you will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations. You will study a range of topics which may include: Year 1

• The business environment
• Business resources
• Introduction to marketing
• Business communication
• Career development planning
• Aspects of employment law
• Managing business information
• Business accounting
• Creative product promotion

Year 2

• Business project management
• Managing a business event
• Starting a small business
• Recruitment & selection
• Human resource management
• Training in the workplace
• Developing teams
• Employment law
• Management accounting

In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, and English and Maths. We also offer English and Maths GCSE resits.

What qualifications do I need?

• 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C including English or Maths, OR
• 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C excluding English or Maths, OR
• Level 2 qualification in a related subject
• Adequate standard of English and Maths
• Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcomed
• You should have a strong interest in business and demonstrate a commitment to succeed

Are there any additional costs?

Learners may be required to purchase small items such as personal stationery and USB stick. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs.
