Art Design Diploma Level 1

Who is this course for?

If you have an enjoyment of Art and Design and want to develop your skills, then the Level 1 course provides a great starting point. Whether you have little or even no experience, the course could provide you with the stepping stones to progress your skills to the next level.

What will I do on the course?

You will develop your artistic skills in drawing, painting and printmaking alongside other arts materials to produce a range of works. It will help you to develop your understanding of art and design and how you can put your creative ideas across to others. The course is made up of a series of units delivered over the year which may include the opportunity to work on projects with local organisations such as charities and small businesses. Units may include:

• Painting and drawing
• 2D and 3D graphics/sculpture
• Printmaking
• Mixed media
• A personal project
• Photography

In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, and English and Maths.

What qualifications do I need?

• 3 GCSEs Grade E or above
• You should have a strong interest in art and design and demonstrate a commitment to succeed.

Are there any additional costs?

Learners may be required to purchase small items of personal equipment (such as art materials and paper) during the course. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs.
