The BEng (Hons) Yacht Production and Surveying at Southampton Solent University is a technology degree that aims to produce graduates with the project management, numerical and practical skills of a professional marine technologist working in the yacht industry.

The BEng (Hons) Yacht Production and Surveying at Southampton Solent University is a technology degree that aims to produce graduates with the project management, numerical and practical skills of a professional marine technologist working in the yacht industry.
This degree is for yacht technologists, with an emphasis on the more practical considerations of production, manufacture and surveying. The three principal themes running through all three years are: yacht materials and manufacture, yacht engineering systems, and yacht design and production technology.
The course combines theory and practice and aims to build on your existing practical sailing and boatcraft knowledge. You will study in an ideal location, close to the thriving port of Southampton and its successful business community, which offers opportunities for extra practical experience.
Lectures and tutorials will be complemented by practical workshops on manufacture of composites, materials testing and machinery systems, together with computer-aided design (CAD). These are carried out using our materials testing laboratories, fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) workshops, CAD office and actual sailing and motor boats.

- Resistance and Propulsion
- Marinecraft Design and Development

Year 3
Three core units and two option units:
- Advanced Yacht Design and Production
- Marinecraft Structures (Practice)
- Project (double unit).
