Regular guest lectures, film screenings, agency visits and social events are also on offer – to help you develop the same passion our expert team has for the world of advertising.
|Industrial focus
This course is designed to help you enter the advertising industry. Agency visits and work placements are always encouraged, and our strong links will help you make valuable contacts. Our relationships with European advertising courses also enable you to work on pan-European campaigns.
Recent guest speakers have included creatives from Saatchi & Saatchi and The Work Club, as well as representatives from the Advertising Standards Authority and the Internet Advertising Bureau.
And because the University is a member of D&AD, you can enter work in their prestigious competitions and exhibit in the D&AD New Blood show in London.
in addition, you have the option to take an IDM certificate in Direct & Digital Marketing Principles.

Year 2
Five core units:
- Integrated Marketing Communications
- Cultural Influences
- Application of Creative Problem-Solving Techniques
- Digital Media
- Creative Concepts: Art Direction and Copywriting.
Year 3
Three core units and two options:
- Agency Simulation
- Dissertation/Creative Project
- Account Management and Planning OR The Creative Team.

Our vocational course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills so you can hit the ground running when you get your first advertising job.
- Support from advertising agencies including EHS 4D Group, Five by Five, Fallon, we are social and The Work Club. This includes work placements, agency visits, guest speakers and critiques of student work by advertising professionals.
- Strong links with D&AD (British Design and Art Direction) and YCN (Young Creatives Network) provide valuable support and resources for the course.
Assessment
Reports, essays, creative portfolio building, live projects, digital and online artefacts, reflective logs, presentations and Year 3 dissertation or creative project.

Projects/work experience
The creative units across the course use live briefs for organisations such as Umbro, Big Issue, Thames Clipper, the Army, Bovril, Nike and the Open University.
The International Foundation Year must be successfully completed before commencing undergraduate study (NQF Level 6 and above). In compliance with UKBA Tier 4 (General Student) policy, a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) will initially be issued for the foundation course.
