Construction Entry Level 3 Foundation Pathway

This pathway is for those who want to explore a career in construction through a full-time college course and would benefit from having a high level of support with English, maths and personal development.
The pathway gives you an introduction to construction. You will develop skills in construction such as carpentry, brickwork, painting and decorating, tiling and general DIY. You will take part in interactive and fun activities where assessment is continuous rather than by exam and you will complete a portfolio as evidence of your learning. There will also be opportunity for you to take part in community projects to put your new construction skills to use on a real building site.

The pathway is delivered through a range of interactive, fun and
practical activities to enable you to develop essential skills and
qualities to take onto the next level of Construction or
employment.
You will be given the opportunity to work individually and in small
groups to develop your construction skills through a range of
practical and theory lessons and will be supported by a personal
tutor through a varied tutorial programme.

You do not need qualifications to join this pathway. However you will need a successful interview with a member of the teaching team to show your commitment to full time study and your interest in the subject. We will also expect a satisfactory school report. As part of your interview we will assess your levels of English and maths and advise you of the most appropriate level to study.
Once you have completed the course successfully at Entry Level you will have the choice to progress onto another course within the Construction department. This may mean specialising in a particular trade or choosing to do another general construction course at Level 1. This course will also give you essential employability skills to look for employment in the construction industry.
