Details This induction session is about understanding and
identifying the different reasons why individuals may have specific
nutritional needs and specialised diets. Learners will develop
their knowledge regarding nutritional needs and be able to outline
requirements to enable individuals to eat and drink well. The
session will cover environmental, social and presentation
considerations, together with the promotion of independence for
individuals. Learners will attend a 4 hour workshop which will
provide underpinning knowledge. Learners will be provided with

the adult health and social care sectors who are involved in the
support and/or care of adults. Entry Requirements None required.
Assessment Continuous assessment throughout the day. Learning
Outcome There arefourlearning outcomes to this session. The learner
will: 1Understand the nutritional needs that are unique to
individuals. 2 Understand the effect that mealtime environments,
presentation, and social aspects can have on an individual’s health
and well being. 3 Be able to support an individual to enjoy good
nutrition. 4 Explore aids and adaptations to promote independence.
Progression after Programme The underpinning knowledge from this
session could be used in conjunction with the Level Two Diploma in
Health and Social Care (Adults).
