Counselling Foundation Degree (FdA) Year 1 Level 4 / Year 2 Level 5 An Award of Teesside University delivered in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland College Course Details The Foundation Degree provides professional training in counselling through which candidates will acquire both a sound theoretical framework and the practitioner skills required to work safely and effectively as a counsellor. The core model of the course is the Person-centred approach with aspects of Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy explored as comparative approaches. Thecore units of the course are: Year One: Theoretical concepts and application. Therapeutic framework for intervention. Personal and Professional Development. Year Two: Comparative theoretical models. Evidence based practice. Skills practice and development. Personal and Professional Development in clinical practice. A Course for People who wish to be qualified to a professional level to pursue paid or unpaid work as a counsellor in a variety of counselling contexts. Entry Requirements Entry is through application, interview, references and an enhanced CRB check. As a minimum students will have achieved a level 3 (QCF) or equivalent counselling training or have at least one year within clinical practice in a supervised counselling agency. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate a level of maturity and a commitment to the personal and professional development required on the course.
