Workshop contents: The basic skills needed for sub-editing; a guide to understanding the approaches for differing types of text. Includes:
- Working to a consistent style
- When to correct and when to rewrite
- Tightening up language
- Grammar and punctuation
- Editing your own copy
- The problems of editing on screen
- How to write accurate, punchy headlines for all media
- Captions and standfirsts
- Proof-reading on paper and on screen
- Cutting copy and making lines
