The Programme

The Solar Thermal Hot Water training is designed to provide experienced heating and plumbing engineers with the necessary skills for basic design, installation, commission and service of Solar Thermal Hot Water systems and deliver a certificate of competence to individuals who will self certify installations through a Competent Persons Scheme. It will give candidates detailed explanations and practical examples of selecting, installing and commissioning solar systems and will cover topics such as regulations, standards, solar heated storage vessels and basic design.

The Programme

The Solar Thermal Hot Water training is designed to provide experienced heating and plumbing engineers with the necessary skills for basic design, installation, commission and service of Solar Thermal Hot Water systems and deliver a certificate of competence to individuals who will self certify installations through a Competent Persons Scheme. It will give candidates detailed explanations and practical examples of selecting, installing and commissioning solar systems and will cover topics such as regulations, standards, solar heated storage vessels and basic design.

Health and Safety
Basic Design
Relevant Regulations and Legislation
Collector Types
Design Layouts
Controls
Pre-survey Techniques and Installation Practises
Commissioning and Service
Fault Finding
Pre-requisite Qualifications:
A recognised competence in a conventional fuel eg, gas, oil, solid fuel or a relevant plumbing qualification such as an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
A certificate of competence under G3 for Unvented Hot Water
Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating

The following qualification is also desirable:
WRAS Approved Plumber qualification
