This solar thermal hot water course is for QCF-qualified solar thermal hot water installers who wish to service/maintain solar thermal hot water systems, require QCF accreditation and need full revision and training.

You learn about the inspection servicing and maintenance of solar thermal hot water systems in accordance with the new QCF framework qualification.


A training manual which accompanies the course will be sent out to you 3-4 weeks prior to attendance and you will be expected to self study in preparation for the assessments. A training manual which accompanies the course will be sent out to you 3-4 weeks prior to attendance and you will be expected to self study in preparation for the assessments. This course consists of 1.5 days of revision in the classroom and in the workshop. You are asessed in class and in the workshop for the remainder of the course. The assessment consists of an online multiple choice exam paper based exam and practical assessments.

The certificate is recognised by all current Microgeneration Certification Schemes as meeting the requirement for appropriate training in the solar thermal technology. Successful completion provides evidence for suitably-qualified individuals who want to apply for registration on a Microgeneration Certification Scheme that allows self-certification, or who need to notify Building Control Departments of work completed.

You need to have successfully completed the QCF Level 3 Award in Solar Thermal Installation before attending this course.

This course leads to a Level 3 award within the Qualifications and Credit Framework. The training has been mapped to National Occupational Standards which means you are receiving the most beneficial and industry-relevant training possible. Upon completion of this course you can then progress to Level 3 awards in other environmental technologies.
