The Programme

At the end of year one, you will progress to the second year and complete the full Extended Diploma in Business which is equivalent to three A2 Levels. You will cover nine introductory business topics to achieve the Business Diploma in year one, which is equivalent to three AS's. In year two, you progress to the full extended diploma and explore specialist business topics in more detail. The programme assumes that learners have no pre-existing business knowledge and begins with introductory units covering the core areas of the business environment, resources and communications, marketing, accounting and human resource management. Building on this key foundation, learners are encouraged to explore more specialised areas such as projects and event management, creative marketing, retailing, business ethics, and administration routes.
The Programme Content
You will cover nine introductory business topics to achieve the Business Diploma in year one, which is the equivalent to three AS Levels. In year two, you progress to the full Extended Diploma and explore specialist business topics in more detail. The programme assumes that learners have no pre-existing business knowledge and begins with introductory units covering the core areas of the business environment; resources and communications; marketing; accounting and human resource management. Building on this key foundation, learners are encouraged to explore more specialised areas such as projects and event management; creative marketing; retailing; business ethics; and administration routes. The Diploma in Business (year 1) and the full Extended Diploma (year 2) is a flexible qualification that learners can choose to complete in either one or two years. Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above with at least a C in English and a D in Maths. Alternatively, a Merit grade from a Level 2 qualification is also acceptable.
Costs
Students undertake a variety of optional trips and activities for which there may be a cost, for example all learners are given the opportunity to participate in a European/UK residential for which there is a cost.

Progression
Learners may use the Diploma, year one to top up their UCAS
points for university entry whilst others use the full Extended
Diploma to achieve the required UCAS points to continue their
studies at degree level. This is an attractive qualification for
employment routes, students develop essential transferable business
skills required within the public and private employment sectors.
