Available only as an in-company programme, the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a high quality training course for the construction industry.

Aimed at site managers, agents and supervisors, the scheme gives a thorough understanding of the key health and safety issues on site.

It will help them to develop a better understanding of their moral and social responsibilities, as well as giving the skills and knowledge needed to manage health and safety on site, in compliance with legislation.

The course is continually revised in line with new legislation and best practice to bring candidates up-to-date with the latest health and safety developments.

In short, SMSTS helps create a safer and more efficient working environment - and that's something that benefits everyone on site.

Is it right for me?

Suitable for all professionals who are either new to a strategic role or aspiring to a position involving strategic management.

What will it cover?

SMSTS is a five-day course that can be taken on a day or block release basis. It trains each individual in the essential points of health and safety and shows them how to measure health and safety performance on their own site.

At the end of the course, individuals have to pass a multiple-choice test, which qualifies them for the Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.

This certificate expires every five years. Before this period expires, certificate holders have to sit a two-day refresher course to renew their qualification for a further five years. This course brings them up-to-date with recent developments in construction legislation and health, safety. welfare and environmental issues.
