Course Content

Core Units for Electrical and Electronic Engineering:
• Analytical Methods for Engineers
• Engineering Science
• Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation
• Electrical and Electronic Principles.
16 units in total are required.

Specialist units are delivered to add breadth and more focused knowledge, skills and understanding, e.g. Specialist Units for Electrical and Electronic Engineering:
• Health, Safety and Risk Assessment
• Electronic Principles
• Programmable Logic Controllers
• Applications of Pneumatics and Hydraulics
• Electrical Maintenance Workshop
• Mechatronic Systems Electrical,
• Electronic and Digital Principles
• Industrial Robot Technology

Course Aims

The course aims to provide the engineering industry with higher level technicians who possess the necessary technical, managerial, analytical and personal skills to operate effectively as team members.

Special Features

• Optional sandwich year industrial placement allows for practical application of studies, team, working, time management and an insight into their chosen
career. Additional units are available for completion during the work placement
• Mechanical and Electrical practical training sessions involving the use of Industrial Hardware and Software within the Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing Engineering.

Each unit is internally assessed by using a wide range of assessment methods and instruments appropriate to the learning outcomes in the context of the specific Engineering sectors.
