Asbestos is known to be the single largest cause of occupational related deaths and is on the increase, it is expected that there could be as many as 10,000 deaths per annum by the year 2015. Current legislation requires that all employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos must be provided with mandatory training and information. This course is designed to highlight the dangers associated with asbestos and to ensure that employers can satisfy their legal duties and obligations and that employees do not inadvertently put themselves at risk.

foreseeably expose them to asbestos must be provided with mandatory
training and information. This course is designed to highlight the
dangers associated with asbestos and to ensure that employers can
satisfy their legal duties and obligations and that employees do
not inadvertently put themselves at risk.
Course ContentAll bespoke courses can be tailored to business and individual needs and typically the content of the course will cover the following topics:
- What is asbestos and the health hazards.
- Where it can be found in buildings and who is at risk.
- Duties of employers and employees.
- Control measures.
- Legislation.
Who is it For?
Designed for any employee whose work could foreseeably expose them
to asbestos and would include all demolition workers and those
people who work in the maintenance and refurbishment of buildings.
The following trades have been identified by the HSE as the persons
who are liable to disturb asbestos while carrying out their normal
work:
- General maintenance staff
- Plumbers, Electricians, Gas Fitters, Joiners, Plasterers
- Painters and Decorators, Heating and Ventilation Engineers
- Roofers, Demolition Workers, Alarm Installers
- Telecoms Engineers, Computer Installers
- Architects, Surveyors
Course duration
The course will be typically three to four hours depending on
specific requirements and can be delivered on clients' own
site.
