What does the course involve?

Working in practical salons to study Body Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology. Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, Business Practice and Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies. The majority of the timetable for this course is in the practical salon, however good research and assignment skills will be required to support the theory units. It is essential that students practice at home and the course will involve substantial Case Studies to be undertaken at home. It is expected that you would be able to allocate around 18 hours for home study and case studies at home per week. Assessment takes place throughout the course by means of written papers, graded assignments, case studies, practical assessments and an external on-line paper for Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology.

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? There are a variety of employment opportunities in this field – High Street Salons, Complementary Therapy Centres, Health Spa, Private Health Clinics, Fitness Centres, Steiner Cruise Liners, Mobile Therapists and a variety of Specialised Medical Centres. Depending upon other qualifications you have achieved access to Level 4 or Degree opportunities. Further studies in the CAM field to take on new therapies or specialised skills Past Students have worked in Health Spas, Steiner, High Street Salons, started their own business, gone into teaching, work in a hospice, work in a health Spa. Past students have also achieved 1st and 2nd place in UK Skills challenge heats.
