Description
This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge relevant to employment in a health care environment. It is a demanding and challenging course which will include the study of 2 SQA Higher grade courses at SCQF level 6.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be accepted on this course, candidates will need to have at least one SQA higher course at grade C or above. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have at least 3 credit level Standard Grades one of which should be a science subject, preferably biology. Alternatively, applicants could have passed the Introduction to Nursing (SCQF 5) now known as NC Child Health and Social Care.

Personal qualities and life experiences, including relevant work experience are important. A genuine interest in working with people is essential. All applicants will be invited for a pre-entry guidance and information session. Thereafter, selection will be by individual interview.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This level 6 nursing Course (NC Health and Social Care Nursing Route) enables successful students, who meet the required criteria, to gain an entry qualification for the Bachelor of Nursing programmes: Adult and Mental Health Branches at Robert Gordon University. RGU will offer places to applicants who have passed this level 6 course, have a satisfactory PVG check, satisfactory Occupational Health check, college support and successful interview.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment for all units is ongoing throughout the course. Course work is assessed in a variety of ways including: projects, short answer questions, essays and some closed book assessments. The emphasis is centred on learner centred learning, where students are encouraged and supported to complete independent research. Students are encouraged from an early stage to take responsibility for their own learning and the use of the college's Virtual learning Environment is actively encouraged. A unit overview will be provided by the lecturer at the beginning of each unit including outcome and particular assessment details.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of the level 6 NC Health and Social Care (Nursing route) course, students may progress to the HNC Healthcare. Alternatively they can apply to B Nursing at The Robert Gordon University. Entry to the degree course is subject to the approval of the University. Unit assessment achievement and successful interview are the agreed requirements for progression.
