This is an entry level course designed to give candidates the IT skills needed for today’s fast changing world of technology. The course is designed by industry experts to give a comprehensive grounding in relevant commercially-required IT and Digital Media skills. The subjects incorporated in the course include core IT skills of IT User Fundamentals, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Internet Safety as well as Digital Media skills of Website Design, Multimedia and Digital Imaging.
Please note: From session 2013/14, this course will be known as Introduction to IT and Digital Media.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is suitable for people with no qualifications or work experience. Applicants should however have a genuine interest in Information Technology, Computers and Digital Media.
Please note: Students will need headphones with a microphone for the recording and listening in the digital media units.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This is an introductory course for students planning to gain experience using Information Technology and Digital Media
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is assessed on a continuous basis and will include an end of unit practical assessment. Assessment will be undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of the course, students can progress to the NC Digital Media course and employment in a range of fields including the IT industry.
