Construction HNC
This is a general HNC, the units of which form a part of a number of other Built Environment HND courses, e.g. Architectural Technology. This makes it an ideal starting point for those wishing to enter the construction industry in a professional (‘non-practical') role but who may not yet have chosen their final career route. It is well recognised in the industry and leads to a number of Built Environment courses. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Typical applicants will be expected to have at least two Highers, in appropriate subjects, e.g. English, maths or physics, and should show an interest in and aptitude for the subject. However, a range of Intermediate 2 and/or Standard Grade subjects with good grades along with a few years of relevant work experience may be satisfactory. An appropriate NC (SCQF level 6) may also allow entry.
For those coming from a trade background, applicants should have successfully completed the SVQ College course and the Advanced Craft in their particular trade.
For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability.
Applicants will be required to attend an interview prior to acceptance.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
The course is for those who would like to enter into the into the construction industry but with an especial interest in the management side of construction.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
The course will be assessed by a series of SQA units.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students successfully completing this course may progress to HND Construction Management (or other Built Environment HNDs) and then to Robert Gordon University or other universities offering the BE HNDs.
You will also be attractive as a trainee management employee to construction companies.
