This is the flagship computing course and forms the first year of the HND Software Development & Technical Support. The course is designed to meet the varied needs of industry and commerce. On completion of the courses core elements, students can choose from two streams of study: Software Development or Technical Support.

Please note: Applicants should be aware that a laptop is required for this course.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is designed for students who would like to gain a general computing qualification which will allow them to follow a career in the private or public sector at entry or supervisory level, or undertake study at a higher level.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis but does include an external examination. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this course students may enter employment as trainees in the computing industry or advance their studies by progressing to the second year of the HND course. (Choose from HND Computing: Software Development or Technical Support.)
