This introductory level (SCQF level 4) programme provides an opportunity for you to develop your soft skills and interpersonal skills in a childcare setting and gives you the opportunity to investigate a range of job roles and career opportunities as well as participate in a job interview. It includes the opportunity to gain two group awards. The emphasis of this course is to prepare you for working in the childcare sector and develop employability skills valued by employers (from all sectors).

PLease note that for all care courses involving work experience placement, an offer of a place is subject to a satisfactory check through Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) certificate.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The primary target group for this course are young people (16-25) who have left school with few or no qualifications. The course may also be suitable for adult returners in a further education environment who are seeking to enhance their employability and vocational skills in the childcare sector.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessments will be both open and closed book, written and oral.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

If you pass this course, you could progress to the NPA Playwork and Childcare (SCQF level 5).
