This qualification is for learners aged 16 and above.
This is a self study course which means you can study at home, workplace or wherever you choose at times that are convenient for you. You do not have any classes to attend.

This is a self study course which means you can study at home, workplace or wherever you choose at times that are convenient for you. You do not have any classes to attend.
The materials for this course are paper based and will be posted to you. You will be supported throughout the course by a specialist Distance Learning Tutor. Your tutor will contact you (via your College email account) within 7-10 working days of receiving your welcome letter and materials. As you progress they will continue to make regular contact to offer support and guidance, usually by e-mail but sometimes by phone, to ensure you are making good progress and to support your learning throughout. Please note that you must be able to study independently through the course materials.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
The qualification comprises five mandatory units:
- Understanding how to work in end of life care
- Under how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
- End of life care and dementia
- Understanding the role of the care worker in time of death
- Understand loss and grief in end of life care
Course work will be internally and externally moderated.
The qualification is accredited by NCFE (an English awarding body) www.ncfe.org.uk and has no end test.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
It would be beneficial if the candidate had competence in Communication and in Numeracy to at least Intermediate 2 level of the Core Skills framework. This may be evidenced by possession of the core skills Unit in Communication or similar qualifications or experience
