The qualification is made up one one unit: Develop and Awareness of Substance Abuse. This course provides an accessible and flexible learning opportunity for a wide range of learners who would like to raise their own understanding of substance misuse in society.

This qualification is for learners aged 16 and above.

This is a self study course which means you can study at home, workplace or wherever you choose at times that are convenient for you. You do not have any classes to attend.

This qualification aims to provide a nationally recognised qualification in substance misuse awareness at an introductory level. The qualification is made up one one unit: Develop and Awareness of Substance Abuse. This course provides an accessible and flexible learning opportunity for a wide range of learners who would like to raise their own understanding of substance misuse in society.

This qualification is for learners aged 16 and above.

This is a self study course which means you can study at home, workplace or wherever you choose at times that are convenient for you. You do not have any classes to attend.

The materials for this course are paper based and will be posted to you. You will be supported throughout the course by a specialist Distance Learning Tutor. Your tutor will contact you (via your College email account) within 7-10 working days of receiving your welcome letter and materials. As you progress they will continue to make regular contact to offer support and guidance, usually by e-mail but sometimes by phone, to ensure you are making good progress and to support your learning throughout. Please note that you must be able to study independently through the course materials.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The qualification will provide you with an awareness of:

  • the types of substance and why they are misused
  • the social and personal effects of substance misuse and how these are commonly portrayed.
  • perceptions of and responses to substance misuse

The qualification comprises one mandatory unit:

  • Unit 01 Develop an awareness of substance misuse

Course work will be internally and externally moderated.

The qualification is accredited by NCFE (an English awarding body) www.ncfe.org.uk and has no end test.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this award. Candidates wishing to undertake this award should have the minimum level of literacy and numeracy necessary to use the distance learning materials and to complete the assessment tasks.
