Visual Analysis & Interpretation

This course consists of the following:
An introductory course in art appreciation. Students will how how analyse the visual features & stylistic elements of painting, sculpture & architecture. The works studied span the whole Western artistic canon from classical Greece to the end of the twentieth century and you will be taught how to use appropriate terminology to examine art and architecture.
Students will investigate art historical themes such as patronage, form and style, subjects and genres, gender, nationality and ethnicity, and materials, techniques and processes.
You will be then taught to consider and apply these themes to a range of selected examples.
Students must be aged 19+
