Maths GCSE (Higher)
This course consists of 3 self-contained modules-
Unit 1
Statistics & Number - encourages students to analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources. Some appropriate aspects of number will be included.
Unit 2
Number & Algebra - Number assesses number skills. Where appropriate, these skills will be assessed within contexts relevant to everyday life.
Unit 3
Geometry & Algebra - This assesses the more traditional areas of mathematics: algebra & geometry.
All students must sit an assessment test (approximately half an hour) and have ONE of the following:
- Mathematics GCSE Grade D or above
- Adult Numeracy Level 2
Evidence of previous qualifications are required

Students who wish to study higher maths are also required to take
an additional assessment which will assess their algebraic skills
and knowledge of higher maths syllabus
Students who have achieved below these grades are advised to study
Adult Numeracy level 1/2
