How will you be assessed?

You can enter the examination at one of two tiers:

Foundation: Grades C, D, E, F or G are availableHigher: Grades A*, A, B, C or D are available

Examinations will be sat at three times during the year: in November students will sit two 20 minute Data Handling tests, in March there are two 30 minute tests on the other topics and there are two terminal examinations in summer. In each case one of these papers is completed without the use of a calculator. All of these examinations must be taken and they all count towards your final grade. There is no longer any coursework for GCSE Mathematics.

Students will also be entered for a Level 2 Adult Numeracy test. This is an additional qualification and a separate certificate is awarded.

What other courses go well with this one?

GCSE Mathematics at grade C or above is a mandatory qualification for all higher level courses and also for most careers.
What will you need to buy?

You will need to purchase the recommended textbook (detai, a suitable scientific calculator, a geometry set and stationery (including graph paper).
What could you go on to do at the end of the course?

If you complete Maths GCSE as part of a full-time GCSE programme, you could go on to take an A level course in a variety of subjects.
