This Foundation Degree allows students to develop generic skills in teaching and learning as well as providing an opportunity for specialising in working with the 14-19 age range.

  • Educational provision & ongoing development of 14-19 year-olds
  • Learning & emotional needs of 14-19 year-olds
  • Techniques & strategies for managing the learning of 14-19 year-olds
  • Theories & principles of learning in planning, enabling & assessing learning of 14-19 year-olds

Students must have between 120 and 240 UCAS points from:

  • BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma
  • At least two 'A' Levels at 'A2' or GCE Applied/AVCE Double Award
  • Advanced Diploma
  • International Baccalaureate

Mature students with at least three years' recent and relevant professional experience, and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma, in a related area with a suitable academic reference, are welcome to apply.

Students in possession of a Level 5 teaching qualification (i.e. Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), Certificate in Education or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (ProfGCE) can apply for direct entry onto year 2 of the course. Students with relevant experience in the sector may be permitted to join year 2 of the course.

All students will be interviewed prior to acceptance on the course.
