practice. This course will help you to achieve a broad skills base

This full-time two-year course specialises in the artistic and
creative aspects of photography production. It is designed for the
concept creator with an eye for quality imagery and conceptual
development. Strong abilities in image composition, visual research
and image origination are essential qualities you will need, as
well as an ability to learn the computer techniques required for
digital photography production and editing.
Within the course, emphasis is placed upon creative problem
solving, design and visual awareness within the interactive design
industries. The photography/moving image course focuses on a wide
range of multimedia skills including: digital photography; moving
image; interactive media; and graphic design.
This course is suitable for students wishing to extend their
creative & technical skills in digital imagery to prepare for a
career in digital related industries. Students will examine in
depth the work of photographers/film makers in both a contemporary
& historical context, through a series of formal lectures,
tutorials & research work that is linked to the production of
your practical & written coursework. The course is underpinned
by the creative use of digital technology. Emphasis is placed on
vocational working, research and analysis of project work. You will
be encouraged develop your individual creative ability and support
this with the development of a high level of technical skills.
Year 1 lays the groundwork for the innovative exploration of ideas;
ideas that have a strong contextual foundation. Throughout the
course, you will develop your own area of interest within
photography and moving image, which will complement developing
design awareness within the subject.
Year 2 offers you the chance to gain professional experience
through involvement with client briefs & professional work. The
course will culminate in the proposition and execution of your own
design brief which will be displayed in an end of year show.

If you choose to study this course on a three-year part-time basis, tutors will arrange the appropriate sequence of delivery for you.
Students must have between 100 and 240 UCAS points from the following:
- At least two 'A' Levels at 'A2', with one in a related subject area
- BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in a media, IT or art & design-related subject area
- Advanced Diploma with relevant Principal or Additional & Specialist Learning (ASL)
- International Baccalaureate
Mature students with relevant experience and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma within a relevant area, are welcome to apply. You will be invited to attend an interview.
