Qualification Summary

The Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management aims to provide candidates with the ability to understand the interrelationship between hospitality and tourism and focuses on the strategic issues in relation to business planning and development within the hospitality and tourism sectors, rather than any operational issues.

The qualification prepares candidates for senior management roles within the hospitality and tourism industries by focusing on the broad strategic business issues such as marketing, strategic planning and leadership, as well as a strategic focus on creating and developing customer loyalty as a way of gaining competitive advantage within the hospitality and tourism industry.

The qualification also enables candidates to develop wider transferable skills need at senior management level such as strategic business planning and project management.


Entry Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or minimum 21 years of age.
  • Some work experience in the field of hospitality and tourism is advantageous.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.


Qualification Structure

MANDATORY UNITS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

  • Hospitality and Tourism Marketing Strategies
  • Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Planning
  • Management and Leadership Across Cultures

OPTIONAL UNITS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

  • Managing Hospitality and Tourism Projects
  • Research Methods for Hospitality and Tourism Managers

Duration

12 to 18 months Full time

NQF Level-7


Progression

Candidates who successfully achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism can progress onto the final stages of Masters level study (dissertation) with the University of Sunderland.

Students who complete the CTH Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management can complete a 60 credit dissertation with the University of Sunderland leading to the award of the University of Sunderland MSc degree in Tourism and Hospitality.
