Course Description

The course aims to:
• Provide a nationally accredited certificated
programme covering a wide range of issues associated with alcohol
use during pregnancy and the variety of clinical symptoms and
developmental outcomes and possible interventions
• Provide a flexible learning opportunity that is
accessible to a wide range of learners
• Provide the student with knowledge and
understanding that can be applied by those who either personally,
voluntary or professionally have a special interest in this
field.
The Teaching Assistant Diploma has been created to help those working, or hoping to work, in the role of ‘teaching assistant’, to gain and develop a level of understanding and skills that will help them to do this effectively.
The Teaching Assistant course consists of a number of modules, each of which relate to a particular aspect that is important and relevant to the teaching assistant role. The modules are organised into two groups:
Mandatory modules
• Provide support for learning activities
• Support children’s development
• Help to keep children safe
• Contribute to positive relationships
• Provide effective support for your
colleagues
Optional modules
• Use information and communication technology
to support pupils’ learning
• Support a child with disabilities or special
educational needs
• Support children and young people’s play
• Provide displays
You must therefore complete seven modules in total to achieve the Teaching Assistant course Diploma.
Previous Knowledge Required
You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.
You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
